Running-Related Injuries on the Rise in U.S. Kids: Study

The number of running-related injuries suffered by young Americans aged 6 to 18 increased 34 percent between 1994 and 2007, according to a new study.

During that period, there were an estimated 225 344 such injuries treated in U.S. departments hospital emergency department, averaging over 16,000 per year.

Most running-related injuries were sprains and strains to the lower extremities. Falls account for one third of injuries and more than half of the injuries occurred at school, researchers said at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Youth ages 6 to 14 were more likely to suffer injury as a result of a fall and while running at school, while adolescents aged between 15 and 18 years were more prone to injury when running in the street or in a facility sports and recreation.

"Encouraging children and adolescents to run for exercise is a good way to ensure they are physically active," said Lara McKenzie, principal investigator at the center, in a press release from the hospital. "However, the results of our study show that the official guidelines, evidence-based and age are needed for pediatric corridors for parents, coaches and physical education teachers can teach children the correct way to execute To reduce the risk of injury. "

Allergy Medicines – Types of Medications for Treating Allergies

If you still have symptoms despite efforts to avoid allergens, you might explore medication options. Whether you choose medication, read the product labels and know the side effects. The following list includes the treatment of allergy more common (both OTC and prescription) and specific allergic conditions and their treatments. In particular, when treating children for allergies, it is wise to consult with your health care provider of the new systems. Some medications are not as effective in children, and some medications can affect the behavior and sleep, and cause serious side effects.

Antihistamines - As the name implies, antihistamines counter the effects of histamine released during an allergic reaction. They are widely used to treat many allergy-related conditions. They are often combined with decongestants and are available in a variety of formulas over the counter (such as Advil ® Allergy Sinus, Alavert Allergy & Sinus, Benadryl, Chlor-Trimeton, Claritin, Contact, Dimetap, Robitussin cough and allergy Triaminic Cold and Allergy, Allergy and Tylenol) and prescription (such as Allegra, Clarinex and Zyrtec). Some may cause drowsiness and slowed reactions. Others do not. antihistamine nasal sprays are also available to treat allergic rhinitis (eg, Astelin). Antihistamine eye drops can also be used for quick relief of itchy eyes associated with allergies (such as Patanol).

Leukotriene blockers - Leukotrienes are another substance released in the body that trigger allergy symptoms such as runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose or wheezing. Montelukast sodium (Singulair) is a prescription drug that can prevent symptoms by blocking leukotrienes. It is used in adults and children as young as 2 years. Also used to treat asthma.

Decongestants - People who experience nasal congestion (stuffiness) due to allergies or sinusitis sometimes consider oral decongestant or nasal spray for relief. Decongestants are also included in eye drops to reduce redness caused by conjunctivitis. They work by constricting blood vessels and reduce swelling. Be careful when using some nasal spray decongestants. If used for a long time (more than 3-4 days), you may experience a rebound effect, where nasal congestion symptoms return. Concerns have been raised about oral decongestants and their side effects and abuse potential. Now available behind the counter. Consult your pharmacist.

Corticosteroids - These anti-inflammatory agents used to treat itching and swelling associated with a variety of allergic disorders. The most commonly used forms are corticosteroid nasal sprays for allergic rhinitis and sinusitis (such as Flonase, Nasalide, Nasocort, Nasonex, Rhinocort), nonprescription, topical corticosteroid creams for hives, dermatitis, insect stings and reactions , and inhaled corticosteroids for asthma. Corticosteroids orally or injected less frequently used for more severe cases of asthma, dermatitis or other allergic reactions.

Cromolyn Sodium / Nedocromil Sodium - These are another type of anti-inflammatory drug. Cromolyn sodium nasal spray can be used to treat and sometimes prevent allergic rhinitis. It works by preventing the release of histamine from mast cells. Cromolyn nasal spray is available without a prescription and is gentle and effective. It usually takes a few days to start working. Eyedrop versions are available for itchy, bloodshot eyes. Inhaled nedocromil sodium is used to treat asthma inflammation, which can be exacerbated by allergies.

Epinephrine - Epinephrine (adrenaline) is used for emergency treatment in cases of anaphylaxis from insect bites, food or drug allergies. It is most commonly administered with a device called an injectable epinephrine kit (such as EpiPen or Twinject). Epinephrine constricts the small blood vessels in the skin and mucous membranes, which increases heart rate and blood pressure to normal levels. Epinephrine also is an antihistamine.

Men More Likely To Stick With Girlfriends Who Sleep With Other Women Than Other Men

Men are twice as likely to go out with a friend who has cheated on her with another woman than one who has cheated with another man, according to a new study by a psychologist at the University of Texas at Austin.

Women show the opposite pattern. It is more likely to continue dating a man who has had a heterosexual relationship than one that has had a homosexual relationship.

The study, published last month in the journal Personality and Individual Differences, provides a new understanding of the psychological adaptations behind the desire of men for a variety of partners and the desire of women to a committed partner. These units have played a key role in the evolution of human mating psychology.

"A robust mechanism is triggered jealousy in men and women different types of signals - those that threaten parenthood in men and those who threaten the abandonment of women," says Jaime C. Conference, the study's lead author and doctoral student in developmental psychology.

Conference conducted the study with his father, Mark D. Cloud, a psychology professor at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania.

The researchers asked 700 college students to imagine they were in a committed romantic and sexual relationship with someone who has been dating for three months. They were asked how they would respond to infidelity committed by the couple expected.

Some participants said that their partners had been unfaithful with a man, others with a woman. Some said that their partner had an affair with a person, other people with multiple partners. Some said that the infidelity happened once, twice.

Regardless of the number of episodes or partners, the study found that:
  • In general, men showed a 50 percent chance of continuing with a partner who has had a homosexual relationship and a 22 percent chance of staying with a woman after a heterosexual relationship.
  • The women showed a 28 percent chance of continuing to date a boyfriend who had a heterosexual relationship and a 21 percent chance of staying with someone who has had a homosexual relationship.

The findings suggest that men have more difficulty by the type of infidelity that could threaten his paternity of the offspring. Men can also see the couple's homosexual relationship as an opportunity to mate with more than one woman at the same time, satisfy the desire of men older than most members, say the authors.

"These results are even more remarkable considering that homosexuality attitude surveys show men have more negative attitudes toward homosexuality and less favorable to civil rights for same-sex partners than women. However, this general tendency of men to show less tolerance of homosexuality that women invest in a gym situation improves - female homosexuality, "say the authors.

By contrast, women opposed to relations after the two types of things, but especially for a homosexual relationship boyfriend. This matter can be seen as a sign of dissatisfaction with the current relationship and a possible prelude to abandonment, according to the authors.

Participants were also asked the results of the experiences of infidelity in real life. Results similar to scenarios imagined infidelity: Men were significantly more likely than women who have completed their real relations as a result of a couple (presumably heterosexual) affair.

Natural Remedies for Hair Loss

There are different causes of hair loss. Most women experience a lot of hair loss after childbirth, and many men go bald in middle age. Hair loss or baldness can be the result of heredity, underlying medical condition, and even certain medications.

Due to hormonal changes, damage or irritation of some hair follicles tend to have a shorter growth phase and produce thinner, shorter hair shafts. The hair goes through a cycle of growth and rest. During each cycle varying with different individuals. However, as a rule the growth period or phase of scalp hair, known as anagen, lasts 2-3 years classic.

During this period, the hair grows around1 centimeter a month. Then the rest phase is initiated. This resting phase is called telogen. The telogen phase lasts about 3-4 months. When you finish the rest phase, the hair falls out and new one begins to grow in its place, ie, anagen (growth phase) starts from this line of new hair.

In the normal case for most people shed 50 to 100 hairs in a day. We have about 100,000 hairs on our scalp, so that the fall of, say 100 hairs a day does not cause us to go bald. However, in extreme cases, due to various factors, shedding begins rate than the rate of re-growth, then it can lead to thinning hair or even baldness.

With age, it is natural that our hair to fade gradually. But there is a way we can make this process slow, or if hair loss is not due to aging, but other factors, can be stopped naturally?

Yes, there are different home remedies which can be very beneficial to prevent or stop premature hair loss. Some of them are listed below:

Take some pieces of gooseberry, and boiled in pure coconut oil. Oil strainer, and storing the oil in a glass container. Apply this oil daily on your scalp, massaging it with his fingers in a circular motion. This is a very effective remedy for baldness or hair loss.

Coconut oil and lemon juice
Daily application of coconut oil mixed with lime juice or lemon juice can prevent hair loss, while facilitating the dandruff.

Cook and enjoy black gram fenugreek seeds for several hours. Now combine the two and make a paste of the mixture. Apply the paste from root to the tips of the hair and after some time you shampoo your hair with a chemical-free shampoo. This not only stop hair loss, but also lengthen the hair.

Fenugreek seeds
Soak fenugreek seeds for several hours. Make a paste of seeds, by adding a little water. Hair oil, preferably with warm coconut oil and then apply this paste on hair roots very well. All resources are available in our kitchen, whether it is necessary to tighten the skin's natural resources, or anti hair loss. They are not only profitable but harmless natural, therefore.

What Kind of Perfumes Should I Wear in Winter?

When asked what kind of perfume that I wear in winter, the real issue is that odors evoke the scents of the season and mood. In summer, light fragrance always demand for memories of warm days at the beach enjoying the sun and water. The fragrances are fruity and reminiscent of flowers of spring and summer.

Winter perfumes, however, tend to be a little heavier and evoke images of autumn and cold winter days soft. Instead of remembering when they were lying on the beach, consider taking a long walk through the fallen leaves or huddle in a shelter.

In the winter, most people use more and heavier clothing. Unlike the spring and summer, there is as much exposed skin. Perfume spent in the winter should be able to overcome are mostly covered with clothing, and that is one reason smells tend to be a little stronger. The scent of musk is a great example of a heavy scent more appropriate for winter than in summer.

winter perfumes have scents that reflect the smells of the holidays and cold winter days as well. For example, odors have a way to remind the user woody or holiday dessert made with vanilla beans. winter perfumes are usually worn low so the smell is not overwhelming. A smell of perfume in winter should be a subtle flavor that makes the user think of the sensual heat.

What kind of perfume I use in winter? By asking that question, the answer is to use one that clearly works for you. The same smell that produce a different result in each person. What smells good in a person can smell completely different on your body. When choosing a perfume scent of winter, choose scents that are reminiscent of the season.

Practicing Forgiveness and the Acceptance of the unknowable

As promised, each week we host a guest blogger. I am so excited to share the amazing insights from Yoga Instructor, owner- Stacy Renz. Stacy is an amazing force in our community and her own blog is inspiring others. I wanted to share with you: Day 141....

My Journey to Ease Day 141 – Accepting the Unknowable

by Stacy Renz

Yesterday something completely bizarre happened. My husband came home around 5pm and asked me if I knew why Orange Kitty was sitting outside on the roof! Luckily we were able to safely retrieve Orange Kitty from a window sill. Upon investigation Greg discovered he had left an attic window open when he had taken down some of the Christmas lights. He knew Orange Kitty had gone out this way because the remaining lights were askew as if Orange Kitty had swung down on them to the roof below like Tarzan! But here is the bizarre part. The attic door was shut tight and I had not gone up there at all yesterday. How did he get into the attic? Had Greg gone up there the night before? I swear Orange Kitty had been present and accounted for before bed. Weird.

And then we discovered that our feral kitty Mouse was also missing. Was he outside? Was he in the attic? Food left on the porch last night was eaten but was it by Mouse, a stray cat, or even a raccoon? Well, about 12:45 last night I began to hear Mouse's pathetic cries. In a stupor I got up and strained to hear where it was coming from – as soon as I got up of course he stopped. So I went downstairs and looked out both doors knowing this was probably futile since he runs at the sight of us. As predicted, I did not see him. So as soon as I was nearly asleep again I heard the cries. They were so close I knew they had to be coming from the attic. So I stumbled to shut the bedroom door and open the attic door so mouse could come out of the attic but the other cats could not get into the attic. Just as I was getting back to sleep, Mouse cried again – to get out of the bedroom. So I got up, shut the attic door, and opened the bedroom door. Would I be able to get back to sleep after all this? It was now 1:30. Thankfully I was able to fall asleep again knowing all my cat children were safely back in the house. Sigh. I am still full of puzzlement at how the cats got into the attic. Shortly before Greg discovered Orange Kitty I had seen Mouse go out onto the front porch. I may never know what really happened.

This is not the first bizarre event to occur in our home. A few years ago Greg came home to find the glass door of our china cupboard complete shattered outward as if something had exploded inside the cupboard. Nothing else was disturbed except for the glass in million tiny pieces all over the floor. We never figured this one out either.

So what is the moral of this story and how does it relate to ease (you might be asking)? Sometimes we can get very hung up on figuring out the why of things. Nothing is inherently wrong with that – Knowing the why and the how can help us prevent similar situations in the future. However, when the answer is unclear or unknowable at the time, we must allow ourselves to move on anyway. An example might be trying to understand why someone we thought was a friend suddenly leaves the friendship and will not tell us why or trying to understand why our parents acted with such apparent disregard for our mental or even physical health when we were growing up. We can remain stuck sometimes for years if we do not get the answers we seek. What I have found is that practicing acceptance of the unknowable and forgiveness (with the appropriate amount of emotional boundary setting) toward the "perpetrator" often allows the truth to be revealed in right timing. And in the meantime, I have kept on living and growing in my own right – perhaps to the point that I can actually receive the truth with grace.

In the cases of the Mysterious Escaping Kitties and the Mysterious Shattering Cupboard, I may discover a secret passageway to the attic or that a spirit resides with us in the house, opening attic doors and shattering glass. If it is the latter I might prefer it remains unknowable.

You Can Eat Poorly Depression: Study

The consumption of foods high in trans fats and saturated fats increases the risk of depression, according to a Spanish study published in the U.S. Wednesday, confirming previous studies linking junk food with the disease.

The researchers also showed that some products such as olive oil, which is high in healthy omega fatty acids-9, it can combat the risk of mental illness.

The authors of the comprehensive study of the Universities of Navarra and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, followed and analyzed the diet and lifestyle of more than 12,000 volunteers in over six years.

When the study began, none of the participants had been diagnosed with depression at the end, 657 of them were victimized.

"Participants with a high consumption of trans fats (fats artificially in industrial production pastries and fast food ... ) Presented an increase of 48 percent in the risk of depression when compared to participants who do not consume these fats, "said principal study author.

Almudena Sánchez-Villegas, associate professor of preventive medicine at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, also noted that the event "more trans fats are consumed, the greater the adverse effect they have on the volunteers."

The research team found, at the same time, after assessing the impact of polyunsaturated fats - made up of large quantities of fish and vegetable oils - and olive oil, these products "are associated with a lower risk of Depression. "

The report, published in the online journal PLoS ONE, noted the study was conducted in a European population has a relatively low consumption of trans fats - ". Total energy consumed by the volunteers "who make up only 0.4 percent

"However, there was an increased risk of depression of almost 50 percent," said lead researcher Miguel Martínez.

"On this basis we derive the importance of taking into account this effect in countries like the U.S., where the percentage of energy from these fats is about 2.5 percent."

The report said the actual number of people suffering from depression in the world is around 150 million people, and has increased in recent years.

This increase is due, according to the authors, the radical changes in the sources of fat intake in Western diets, where we replaced certain kinds of beneficial fats - polyunsaturated and monounsaturated nuts, vegetable oils and fish - the saturated fatty acids and trans fats found in meat, butter and other products such as cakes and mass-produced fast food. "

Although not a focus of the study, the researchers noted that fatal cardiovascular disease is "likely to have a similar diet, and may share similar mechanisms in their origin."

Rise in Some Head and Neck Cancers Tied to Oral Sex: Study

There is an alarming rise in the incidence of certain types of head neck cancer among middle-aged and younger Americans, and some experts link the trend to an increase in the popularity of oral sex during the last decades.

That's because the human papilloma virus (HPV) is an important trigger for these cancers, and HPV can be transmitted through this type of sexual activity.

"It seems like a very good link that increased sexual activity, including oral sex is associated with increased HPV infection," said Dr. Greg Hartig, professor of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at the School Wisconsin University of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.

According to Dr. William Lydiatt, professor and chief of oncology of head and neck surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, the overall incidence of cancer of the head and neck going down, largely because fewer people are smoking ( snuff and drink are the major traditional risk factors).

However, the incidence of cancers of the tonsils and base of the tongue have been rising in recent decades, he said. And those are the ones most likely to test positive for HPV.

"It's gotten to the point where 60-70 percent of all cancers of the tonsils in the U.S. are related to HPV," said Lydiatt.

Although the relationship between HPV and this type of cancer is indisputable, the association with oral sex is strong, but a bit more speculative, experts say.

A 2007 study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that younger people with head and neck cancer who tested positive for oral HPV infection were more likely to have had multiple vaginal and oral sex partners in your life.

In the study, which has six or more oral sex partners during a lifetime was associated with a 3.4 times greater risk of oropharyngeal cancer - cancer of the base of the tongue, back of the throat or tonsils. Having 26 or more vaginal-sex partners tripled the risk.

And the association increased its membership - in every category - increased.

The researchers also reported that cancers of the tonsils and base of the tongue have increased every year since 1973, and wrote that "the spread of oral sex practices among adolescents may be a contributing factor to this increase."

The researchers concluded that, in their study, oral sex was "strongly associated" with oropharyngeal cancer, but said he could not "rule out transmission through direct mouth-to-face contact" kisses, as French.

In 90 percent of cases of HPV infection in the body, the immune system clears HPV naturally within two years, according to federal health agencies, but in some cases, certain types of HPV can cause cervical cancer and less common cancers, and oropharyngeal cancer. A 2010 study in Sweden, in fact, suggests that the increase in oropharyngeal cancer of squamous cells in a number of countries is caused by a slow epidemic of infection with HPV-induced [cancer]. "

HPV tends to be site-specific, said Dr. A. AMESH Adalja, an associate professor in the division of infectious diseases at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In other words, tends to be always first enters the body, either the vagina (in some cases could lead to cervical cancer), or the mouth and throat.

The same applies to the increased incidence of saying that the latest generations are having more sex than their grandparents?

"The general consensus on the street because people are that the practices [sexual] have changed over time, we are seeing an increase in these types of cancer," said Hartig. "I do not know why they are having more oral sex [but] the concept of having oral sex is something that seems less dark for you as you did with your parents or grandparents."

"The idea would be that the" Baby Boomers "- the generation of the 70's and early 60's - probably had more freedom in sexual relations in general, including oral sex," said Dr. Bert W. O'Malley, Jr. , Chairman of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

And at least in terms of oral sex, which seems true for the children of the Boomers.

The U.S. Centers Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that in 2002, about 90 percent of men and 88 percent of women aged 25 to 44 reported having oral sex with a partner of the opposite sex.

The comparative figures for 1992 showed that about three quarters of men aged 20 to 39 and about 70 percent of women aged 18 to 59 who have sex ever given or received orally.

The positive side is that HPV-related head and neck cancer are eminently more treatable than those attributable to smoking or drinking, although they tend to be diagnosed at a later stage.

"[The head and neck cancers associated with HPV] have been much easier to treat. You can use less intense radiation," said Dr. DJ Verret, assistant clinical professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and a facial plastic surgeon in Plano, Texas.

About 85 percent of nonsmokers with HPV positive tumors survive. That figure drops to 45 or 50 percent in people who smoke and are HPV-negative, Lydiatt said.

And the tongue and tonsil cancers are still relatively rare in the United States. The other good news - at least for the youngest - is that there is a relatively new vaccine to prevent HPV infection. It will not help those already infected, but "absolutely" could help those not yet infected with the virus are ubiquitous, Verret said.

Meanwhile, the people, especially youth, need to realize that smoking is not the only risk factor for head and neck cancer. If you find a lump in the neck, even if you are only 20 or 30, "pay attention to that," said Lydiatt.

How To Do Your Nails Fast

When you are in a rush, decisions have to be made. Prioritize. Do you shape or polish? Do you quick-dry or go the long, slow route? New formulas allow for snap decisions:Speed-dry enamels are worthy of their name (you can open mail, search for keys, or put on your tightest long-sleeved shirt within seconds), but there's a downside: "As fast as they dry, that's as fast they chip," insists

Importance of Vitamin D to womens

Experts says, women need to get enough vitamin D, an necessary vitamin that helps the body absorb calcium and may decrease the risk of some diseases.

More and more studies are showing how important vitamin D is helps to women's health and women need to make sure they are receiving enough of this essential vitamin.

Importance of Vitamin D:

Vitamin D promotes the body's absorption of calcium, a mineral that helps to keep bones and teeth strong.

Vitamin D also regulates the body's calcium levels in the blood, as well as levels of the mineral phosphorus, which also helps to healthy bones and teeth.

Vitamin D deficiency can be serious, causing bones to decline and weaken. In adults, a vitamin D deficit can lead to the bone condition osteoporosis and, in children, it can cause rickets soft and weak bones.

Some studies have suggested that vitamin D may have many other valuable effects, such as boosting the immune system.

Studies have shown that vitamin D in sufficient levels can help boost the immune system and possibly reduce the risk of getting some cancers and autoimmune diseases.

Kinesio Taping for Lymphoedema and Chronic Swelling in St. Petersburg FL 33702

As a Lymph Therapist, weekly I work with clients who are experiencing swelling and fluid retention in their extremities. One of the modalities or therapies I will add to their lymphedema program is specific kinesio taping to reduce the accumulation of excessive amounts of protein-rich fluid in the body tissues.

Lymphatic dysfunction, as we refer to it, is something I look for in the first session with my client. It involves a comprehensive examination of the limbs at risk or with lymphoedema but also an assessment of the lymphatic structures and territories at the root of that limb. This examination of poor drainage might identify the thoracic duct as the source of the swelling in the feet or legs or even abdmonial areas.

There are several lymphatic disorders that cause swelling:
- a congenital condition called Milroy-Nonne Disease (birth)
-Meige's Disease (puberty)
-Lymphoedema tarda (after age 35)

Secondary Lymphoedema's:
-Latrogenic (removal of lymph nodes, radiotherapy to lymph nodes, sugery)
-Trauma (motor vehicle accident)
-Lymphangitis (rooted from fungal, bacterial, parasitic, insect or spider bite )
-Cancer (tumor blockage or compression on lymph system)

If you are experiencing one of more of this conditions - it would be recommended that you seek lymphatic congestion therapy along with a course of kinesio taping.

Kinesio taping can be very helpful in motivating and decongesting deep lymphatic fluid.

Call our offices for more information or to book you lymph therapy and kinesio taping appointment. 727-502-3464

Diets to Control Thyroid Problems

If you are struggling with thyroid problems, you should look at your diet as a means to help control thyroid problems. practitioners of alternative medicine have suggestions for foods that can support thyroid function and help you feel better, in conjunction with more traditional treatments.

Protein sources
Protein is important for normal body function, and most of us get our protein from meat, poultry and fish. Try to avoid meat that has been given hormones. Organic beef, pork and poultry are hormone free.
Fish is another excellent source of protein and some, such as salmon, we also provide vital omega-3 fatty acids. Some species (such as tuna and swordfish) may have elevated mercury levels, and should be eaten in moderation.

Surprise! The protein can also be obtained from seeds (flax and pumpkin, mostly), seaweeds, and nuts. Peanut butter and almonds are good sources of protein, a bonus if you are trying to reduce their meat consumption.
Salt and sweeteners
Sal is also important for the body, although in excess it can lead to other problems. Many Americans use iodized table salt, but you may want to switch to a non-iodized salt, like sea salt or kosher salt.

Aspartame, an artificial sweetener, is controversial. Although considered safe, some people suspect that it may lead to thyroid problems. Among them is Janet Starr Hull, who was diagnosed with thyroid disease, Graves disease, in his book "Sweet Poison", which speaks of his illness, he feels as a result of the use of aspartame.

Soy
Although one might think that soy is always beneficial, is not the case of thyroid patients. Soy can interfere with the absorption of drugs that regulate the thyroid. Patients experience sudden weight gain, feeling of malaise and loss of energy while taking soy.

Thyroid Disease

The thyroid is a small gland located under the skin and muscles in the front of the neck, right where a bow tie to rest. It is red brown with left and right halves (called lobes) that look like the wings of a butterfly. It's light like a butterfly, too, and usually weighs less than an ounce.

As small as it is, however, the thyroid has an enormously important job to do, especially for adolescents. That makes hormones that help control metabolism and growth. To do its job, the thyroid needs a chemical element called iodine that the body absorbs from the food we eat and water you drink. The body contains about 50 milligrams of iodine. About 1 / 5 to 1 / 3 of the tender (10 to 15 milligrams) is stored in the thyroid. The thyroid iodine combines with tyrosine (an essential amino acid) to produce important hormones.

Thyroid hormones are released from the gland and travels through the bloodstream to the cells in your body. Help control the growth and structure of bones, sexual development (puberty), and many other body functions. By helping your cells convert oxygen and calories into the energy they need to function properly, these hormones are important in determining if your body is mature as it should. Thyroid hormones also directly affect how most of your organs function. So if your thyroid is not functioning properly, can have problems in many other parts of your body.

Benefit of Drinking Water for Skin

Drinking adequate amounts of water a day is important for good health because water is involved in many and helps to improve body functions. These functions include digestion, absorption, circulation and excretion. There are other more specific benefits for drinking water as well.

Water helps the cleaning or removal of toxins from the body. If the body does not have enough water, then metabolic waste is not removed as efficiently as they should. In essence, the body would be to hold the toxins instead of expelling it is necessary for proper health. Much of the detoxification is performed in the kidneys. Therefore, the benefit of drinking water in this case is to allow the kidneys to do their job properly.

Another benefit of drinking water is to carry nutrients to the body's cells. In addition to helping nutrients enter the cells where they are needed, the benefit of drinking water in adequate quantities also helps keep cells hydrated so they can function properly and efficiently.

Drinking water is also beneficial for the muscles. Helps maintain proper muscle tone and prevent painful muscle cramps.

The prevention of kidney stones or at least reducing the risk of developing kidney stones is another benefit of drinking water in adequate quantities.

Drinking water helps to increase energy levels in people and helps lubricate the joints in the body.

There is a belief that one of the benefits of drinking water in large quantities is to curb your appetite and therefore can be an effective tool for weight loss. Unfortunately, there is strong evidence that water plays this role. Certainly, drinking water in large quantities will fill the stomach, but this is only temporary. Once the water there is the stomach, hunger returns, perhaps with more force.

Water benefit for skin

The benefit of drinking water in large amounts for proper skin health is a controversial area. Many believe and have stated that the water is very beneficial for skin care. The main benefit is given to drink lots of water keeps the skin moist and prevents dry skin. Claims are also made that the water gives the skin a radiant and healthy, younger looking skin without wrinkles, and allows the skin to maintain its elasticity and flexibility.

However, many experts are refuting the aforementioned benefits. Unless the person is severely dehydrated, drink lots of water will not prevent dry skin. Basically, the level of skin moisture is not determined by internal factors. In contrast, external factors such as skin cleansing, the environment, the number of sebaceous glands, and operation of oil-producing glands that determines how dry skin or goes. The water that is consumed domestically not reaches the epidermis. In fact, the water moves through the system of organs fairly quickly. If the skin is dry, the best solution is to treat the skin from the outside with a skin moisturizer suitable for dry or dry skin lotion. This forms an effective barrier against water loss from the skin.

Apparently there is a significant benefit of drinking water to cure or prevent dry skin. What spray or mist of water on the skin to help reduce dryness? This again is a treatment where there are significant differences of opinion. Some argue that the spray of water in the skin to help moisturize and help prevent dryness and aging of the skin. Others argue that the spray of water does not have significant moisturizing effect. The latter view seems to be the truth. It is best to prevent moisture from escaping the skin in the first place with appropriate moisturizers instead of constantly wet skin. However, it is important that the environment is not too dry. The moisture in the air to limit the amount of water escaping from your skin as opposed to a dry environment where water is more easily extracted from the skin.

Is there any real benefits of drinking water for skin health? In fact, despite the fight against dry skin is not a benefit of drinking water, there are some potential benefits.

As mentioned, the drinking water in adequate amounts is necessary to eliminate toxins from the body through the excretory system. With insufficient quantities of water flowing through the body, these toxins can accumulate in the body and escape through the pores of the skin. This contributes to acne. Therefore, by the washing of the body internally with water, outbreaks of acne are less likely to occur due to the release of toxins through the skin.

Another benefit of drinking water in large quantities in the skin to treat skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis. In addition, proper hydration will help eliminate dark circles and sunken eyes. skin fat is also sometimes stated as the provision of potable water.

Recommendations of drinking water

The benefit of drinking water for skin and body is determined by the amount of water consumed. Most of the recommendations in the literature suggest that eight glasses of water should be consumed per day to obtain the maximum benefit of drinking water. Some say the best benefit of water is produced when fresh distilled water is consumed compared with tap water. Tap water can be inconsistent in their composition and contain undesirable minerals and additives. Spring water is also questioned by many due to the possible presence of contaminants and pollutants. However, no agreement on this and opinions vary widely as to the choice of the appropriate type water. While the water is clean, then it is acceptable.

The suggestion to drink 8-8 ounces or 250 ml glasses of water a day (the so-called 8-8-rule) is interesting because it seems to have no scientific basis. It is a rule often cited, but difficult to track a medical or scientific study. In addition to the 8-8-rule, often include recommendations to prevent dehydration of foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, cola, other caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

However, many believe that 8 glasses of water is excessive and the same benefits of drinking water can be obtained with smaller amounts. Some experts suggest that for an average adult in good health, with healthy kidneys, and live in a temperate climate, only four glasses of water is required to obtain the benefits of drinking water and to replace daily losses of water.

The water must not be in the form of distilled water, bottled water or tap water. Water to hydrate your body can be obtained by eating water-rich fruits such as melons, vegetables and foods. It is believed that the water in the food stays in the body longer and is more likely to be absorbed, while the outputs of liquid water in the stomach quickly and is cleared quickly before adequate absorption is capable of producing. Beverages such as milk and juice also contribute to the total daily intake of water. Even drinks that are said to dehydration are useful according to research. Caffeinated beverages, which dehydrate the body, to some extent, but this is more than offset by the amount of water in the drink. A cup of coffee actually adds about two-thirds of a cup of liquid moisturizer. Therefore, have a cup of coffee will increase its total water consumption.

Alcoholic beverages when consumed as a result a net loss of body water. A drink you can not do too much of a difference, but many will make significant dehydration. If the consumption of alcohol, it is best to water and keep hydrated.

Given all the uncertainty about the benefits of drinking water and the amount of water should be consumed every day, there is no clear course of action. The best strategy is reasonable. Be aware of what your body is telling you. If lack of energy are in constant thirst, dark urine and are then this could be a sign that you are not getting enough water. Thirst is the body's way of signaling the need to increase water intake. So heed this warning. If you are running to the bathroom every hour, then maybe you're drinking too much. An average healthy person urinate 3 to 4 times per day. If this is the case, then the body is likely to be well hydrated.

In the exercise and the sweat is necessary to replace the lost water regularly to prevent the disease from dehydration and heat. The same is true when living in warm climates. In these situations, the benefit of clean water is obvious. Certain diseases also require extra hydration. The benefit of drinking water in quantities larger than normal also extends to pregnant women and infants, which are conditions in which the body requires more fluid intake.

For older people, drinking more water is a good idea, as dehydration is more likely to occur due to physiological changes in the body and the general lack of knowledge when to hydrate the body.

Drinking water for proper health of people is not universal. For some it can be really dangerous. For people who have trouble eliminating fluids (diabetics taking antidiuretic hormone), the excess water intake can not be eliminated and water intoxication may develop. Signs of water intoxication include mild headaches, confusion, coma, convulsions and death perhaps. Individuals taking this medicine should consult their doctor before increasing your water intake significantly.

Drinking excessive amounts of water can also lead to hyponatremia (too little sodium in the blood). The elderly, athletes like marathon runners, and people with congestive heart failure and liver cirrhosis are at increased risk of this rare condition.

In summary, for the average healthy person, there is a benefit of drinking water in large quantities. Most of the profits go to the proper functioning of organs like the kidneys and cellular health. It is also useful to expel toxins from the body, leading to overall good health. However, one of the benefits of drinking water that has exaggerated the effect on dry skin.
