Why The Difference In Blood Volume Between Male and Female?

Males usually have about 4.7 to 5 litres and females usually have about 3.5 to 4 litres or so. These are just rough averages but blood volume varies from person to person. The reasons are quite straightforward: males are generally larger than females and, so, need more blood due to their larger mass and volume; females menstruate which loses a small, but not insignificant, amount of blood every month; and testosterone is theorised to increase erythrocyte production. Hope this helps.
