Brief Review of Sana Nameraka Face Cream
Hey everyone! I'm so excited about this cream right now that I just NEED to blog about it! I've only used it for about two weeks but I just love how it feels on my skin. I didn't expect much when I bought it and just kept it stored away for awhile. How lame am I? O_O
Sana Nameraka Face Cream
Here's the breakdown!
What it is: A thick white cream perfect for nighttime use. It is formulated with organic soybeans and contains plant collagen (from the soybeans) for your skin to absorb. Because I can't translate from direct Japanese, I don't know the full claims of this cream. Darn!
Texture: It feels like what you normally are used to in a jar. Like a concentrated emulsion with mask-like moisture, hence the thick cream.
Scent: They say there is no scent but we all know there is no such thing! The scent is the typical no scent smell. Pretty faint glue stick smell that goes away instantly.
Strengths: Really moisturizing and not sticky! My skin felt really supple and soft in the morning. Can we say hardworking soy beans? :p
Weaknesses: None for me, and I have combo skin toward the oilier side.
Packaging: Plastic jar. It's practical what it's housed in, but I sometimes get fearful of creams in plastic jars (plastic in general) because of the whole plastic BPA chemical thing. Price: $10 on AdamBeauty, $15 on Sasa.com for 50g (1.7 oz) of product.
Overall: This cream is the very basic of skincare. It's a nice thick cream that provides good moisturization and minimal efforts. It probably has skin brightening properties from the soybeans so that is always a plus. I really like it! It's a rich cream, it's basic and it's affordable. I love how it feels. This is a definite repurchase for me! I have yet to try the entire line, but I'm pretty happy with this overall.
Your thoughts? :) I'd love to hear what you thought of it or if you've tried other products in this line! Do share!

Options For Older Adult Care Seriously Limited
There are 50 million family members providing care to older adults in the United States, according to the MetLife Foundation and national caregiving associations. When older adults are hospitalized and discharged, their families face numerous choices about where they will go and how they will receive care. A University of Missouri nursing expert says the complexity of this process will intensify with increasing demands for health care and workforce shortages."Coordination among families, patients and health care providers is essential to providing effective care for the aging population in the next few years," said Lori Popejoy, assistant professor in the MU Sinclair School of Nursing. "Stress, fear and lack of understanding often complicate the decision-making process for families and patients. Open communication is needed to support end-of-life care and decision making."
Hospital visits and discharge processes are often complicated; family members have to communicate with each other and health care team members (HCTMs), which include physicians, nurses and hospital staff, about treatments and make decisions with limited resources. Popejoy identified common concerns about the process: going home, advocating for independence, making decisions and changing plans.
"A new approach to the hospital discharge process should further consider the rights of patients and families - to be fully and accurately informed of older adults' conditions and realistic care options, including home care, personal care and nursing homes," Popejoy said.
Popejoy says decision making should be an interactive and incremental process that occurs among patients, families and HCTMs. A HCTM can be designated to communicate information among care providers, patients and their families. In previous research, Popejoy found that families and patients who worked with a nurse communicator reported less stress and better overall care.
Notes:
The study, "Complexity of Family Caregiving and Discharge Planning," was published in the recent issue of the Journal of Family Nursing. Popejoy earned a master's degree and doctorate in nursing from MU. Her work experience in hospitals, nursing homes and home health care has inspired her to understand more about the problems and issues faced by nurses as they work with older adults and their families. Currently, she is studying the challenges faced by health care providers as they discharge older adults from the hospital, and the health care transitions faced by elderly people and their families following hospitalizations.

5 Wintertime Skin Tips
5 Wintertime Skin Tips
Wintertime weather is tough on skin, but there are things you can do to return your skin to its healthiest condition. Below are the five tips about wintertime skin answered by top expert, Dr. Mitchell Chasin, Medical Director at Reflections, Center for Skin and Body.
1. Blotchy red skin is usually due to skin dehydration. Avoid hot, prolonged showers. Frequent use of moisturizer and using non-soak cleansers can help, along with running a humidifier in your bedroom while you sleep.
2. Avoid anything skin care products that contain agents that strip the skin of its natural moisture. In the winter we typically decrease the strength of the retinoids we give to patients.
3. Wintertime can be notoriously bad for acne due to decreased time in the sunlight. (The bacteria that cause acne flourish in the winter in the absence of UV light.) UV and other light-based therapies can help keep acne-causing bacteria in check. Also, many people go off their acne medication in the summer. It’s important to get back on it in the fall before the winter hits and acne regains the upper hand.
4. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean meats, nuts and seeds will help combat acne and make your skin look terrific. Of course drinking plenty of water is also critical for healthy skin. When acne is bad, avoid simple sugars and excessive dairy intake.
5. To help dry hands and cuticles, avoid hot water and stringent soap, and try to moisturize hands right after washing, before they are fully dried. For the feet, applying moisturizer right after getting out of the shower should help lock the moisture in. Also, rubberized shoes that don’t breathe well can make feet sweat, which leads to skin irritation, which leads to dryness. Avoid shoes that are sealed and make your feet sweat and wear thicker, absorbent socks that wick moisture away from your feet.

Health Tip: Take Control of Your Diabetes
Keeping your blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible can help prevent complications of diabetes.
But how do you get started?
The American Diabetes Association offers these suggestions:
- Make changes gradually, rather than trying to do everything at once. Start with a single change, such as checking your blood sugar more often.
- Take an honest look at how you're coping with being diabetic, and deal with any issues such as anger or depression.
- Be realistic about what you can accomplish, and understand that you can't always have perfect blood sugar. With practice, you can learn to administer the right insulin dose for different situations.
- If the demands of the disease get overwhelming, allow yourself a small break from the new routine, then start again as quickly as possible.

Small Changes In Skin Care Routine Can Significantly Improve Skin Affected By Acne And Rosacea
Patients with acne and rosacea are often confused about the selection of products for proper skin care, cosmetics and cosmeceuticals to add to your daily routine. While they want to continue seeing results with the treatment regimen from your dermatologist, also want to be comfortable using products that address other issues of the skin, as wrinkles or protect the skin such as sunscreen. Also may want to select products skin care that can help improve the overall appearance and health of the skin during treatment, especially if the drugs have left the skin with redness, dryness or inflammation.
Speaking at the 69th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy), dermatologist Diane S. Berson, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York, NY, discussed the proper skin care and use of some of the new cosmeceutical formulation can improve the skin of acne patients and rosacea, as well as helping to meet their treatment regimen.
"When the skin is stripped of lipids, which are part of the outer layer of protective skin barrier is compromised and can worsen acne and rosacea," said Dr. Berson. "By keeping the skin moisturized with products of skincare, the barrier will remain intact, allowing patients to better tolerate drugs."
Cleaning 101: Soft, soft, soft
When it comes to cleaning the skin, Dr. Berson recommends a gentle cleansing and cleaning products for skin prone to acne and rosacea. Exfoliate the skin actually worsen acne because it can remove skin lipids and may increase irritation. Instead, wash carefully with a non-irritating, pH balanced cleanser to reduce inflammation.
"Harsh, alkaline soaps bar and alcohol-based products can worsen the irritation," said Dr. Berson. "Cleaning with mild surfactants can remove oil and surface dirt without compromising the skin barrier function. It is important to rinse thoroughly cleaning the skin, because the residue can be irritating."
In addition, Dr. Berson recommends the use of liquid soaps that contain moisturizers that can be deposited back into the skin moisture. By keeping the skin well hydrated, the skin barrier function remains intact and, in turn, helps patients continue to comply with their treatment regimen without interruption due to irritation of the skin.
Moisturizers: Good for All
It is a common myth that acne patients should not use moisturizers, but Dr. Berson explained that this is simply not true. If patients do not use a daily moisturizer, the skin may become red and peel easily due to the drying effect of acne medications. Using a moisturizer, patients from the effects of these drugs by adding moisture back into the skin.
New technologies to improve sunscreen formulations
While the health consequences of ultraviolet radiation (UV) rays from sunlight and artificial light sources are well known, some patients with acne and rosacea may not be aware that sunlight can also aggravate your condition. Dr. Berson recommends the daily use of broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays, and commented on the new technologies that are improving the feeling of sunscreen on the skin.
"One of the latest developments in sunscreens is the use of microfine particles, which has the active ingredients and ground into small particles that are less visible to the naked eye," said Dr. Berson. "In the past, physical blocker zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are more opaque, greasy and heavy. Sunscreens microfine zinc oxide is softer, lighter and aesthetically pleasing texture formulas."
Also, because some new sunscreens are designed not to clog pores and worsen acne, Dr. Berson noted that patients are more likely to use these products regularly. He added that sunscreen spray or gel-based work well for people with acne or oily skin.
Cosmetics and cosmeceuticals skin offer many benefits
The manufacturers of cosmetics and cosmeceuticals are continuously improving their products by adding ingredients that offer many benefits to the skin, including skin affected by acne or rosacea. Many acne products over the counter now contain salicylic acid to reduce inflammation and help exfoliate in and around pores.
"As far as drugs are concerned, the reformulation of existing active substances has led to products of better tolerated," said Dr. Berson. "The vehicles that offer the active ingredients to the skin and contain more emollients and moisturizers that are soothing and non-irritating active ingredients can also be released slowly through microsponges -. A unique technology that consists of tiny sponges that release its active ingredient in the skin slowly over time and in response to other factors such as temperature or massage the product into the skin. These developments result in products that are aesthetically pleasing, thus improving performance by improving compliance. "
In addition, Dr. Berson said that cosmetics - traditionally used to camouflage redness and common acne pimples and rosacea - are continually improving and can be found in formulations that are greasy and non-comedogenic. For example, based cosmetics, mineral powder formulas contain silica, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide to absorb oil and red camouflage, are not irritating to patients with acne and rosacea. Ingredient dimethicone also creates a smooth, matte finish when added to cosmetics. These outbreaks can camouflage or redness while protecting the skin from ultraviolet light, a common trigger rosacea flare.
"Patients with acne or rosacea should consult their dermatologist to determine the best products for skin care of their condition and how they can improve their medical treatment in general," said Dr. Berson. "The choice of formulation vehicle for a given patient also increase tolerability and improve compliance There are also various cosmetic procedures in the office. - Such as peels and lasers. - You can improve acne, redness, scars and Dermatology pigmentation problems understanding that patients want to look good, even in the face of a sensitive skin condition like acne or rosacea, and is now perfectly possible. How to Detoxify Body ?
There are various ways to detoxify ones body.
1) Fasting: This technique was used by our ancestors.
- Try going on a fast a day per week drinking only water.
- Some suggest a week only of fruit juices once a year.
Certain hormones are released by our body when it is stressed to cope with it. These hormones however produce a lot of toxins and are not good for health and also contributes in slowing down the detoxification. Yoga and Meditation can help release stress.
3) Increase your Fiber Intake :
Eat plenty of fiber food such as brown rice, vegetables and fruits like beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella.
4) Drink more and more water.
While water should be taken almost in a quantity of 2 quarts a day, please remember not to take it in excess.
5) Eliminate the high levels of alcohol, cigarattes, caffeine, refined sugars and saturated fats from your daily intake. These are toxic to body. As far as possible one should also eliminate the use of deodorants and other health products to replace them with natural products.
6) Nourish your Liver :
Since liver is responsible for removing the toxins from the body. One should take care of the inputs required by liver such the compound glutathione plays an important role in removing the toxins.
7) Increase Oxygen Intake :
Deep breathes are the most efficient way of doing this. Oxygen circulation throughout the body aids the detoxification process.
8) Perspiration :
Another efficient way of removing toxins is by sweating. Sweat in Sauna so that the toxins get removed from the pores on the skin.
As an alternative you can also dry brush your skin with the products available for the same purpose in the natural product stores.
