Common Cold
Cold is very common in children as well as old people. As one can get cold easily one always tries to avoid them and looks for preventive measures. Sometimes common cold can get us into critical condition and can stay with a person if not treated. Cold and cough are considered to be common sickness in the human race.

What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?
In simple words it's the after effects of a tragedy. PTSD is something where a person is not able to forget his/her past. The bad memories of past keep on haunting a person.

Reasons for Itching
For past two days, I have been itching myself throughout the body. I wonder why and took the web route for flourishing some facts about the reasons of itching. I suppose the reason of my itching to be the soap I use for bathing is changed for last couple of days. So have anyone of you been through the same situation and think the reason to be same as mine. Haha. Well I guess no and here are some of the reasons which can cause you Itch all around.

How To Avoid a Cold
- Keep you hands clean by washing them. Cold being a contagious disease, can be transmitted through handshakes as well as if your hands touch some contaminated objects. So keep your hands clean. Why only hands,? because this part of body is used by your body often and is much in action as well as capable of getting you infected while eating or while rubbing your nose, ears, etc.
- Try to be away from people who are coughing sneezing. If he/she is infected, then there are chances that people in close vicinity may get infected.
- Get Rest and Exercise. Rest helps to strengthen your immune system, so get plenty of it. Get a walk every often, it will boost your immune system.
- 500mg tablet of vitamin c. Get a 500mg tablet of vitamin c once in a while to keep cold at bay.
- Get relieved of stress. A study has shown that people who suffer from stress are more prone to catching the cold virus.
- Wrap yourself. It has been found that cold virus breeds faster in cold conditions. So wrap your nose and body when its cold.

Cold and Alcohol
IF you think drinking can cure cold then it is time to reconsdier your thoughts. Be it brandy or a whisky taken along with hot water and lemon, which most of the world thinks is what doctor orders.Now we can think it over how can a inebriation(mild) can relieve you of the cold, flu symptoms. But it is not yet medically proved if alcohol is able to kill the germs of
flu and cold. Instead alcohol is said to increase dehydration.
There were two studies conducted on how resistant are people who drink moderately to cold. Following are the results
First study was conducted on 391 adults. The result said that those who drink moderately were more resistant to cold, the only exception to this being the smokers.
Second study was conducted on 4300 adults. It was found that those who drink 8 to 14 glasses of wine per week were at 60% less prone to developing a cold.

Severe Stomach Pain
I was shocked today a bit to see my friend ( female) changing sides on bed, because of severe stomach pain. We will discuss the causes and remedies of severe stomach pain. When we visited the doctor. The doctor asked certain set of questions
1) Whether you had other than normal food(hotel food) yesterday? In our case it was no.
2) Where does it pain? Only the abdomen, the pain was at single location.
3) Are you under period? No.
4) Any problem with excretion in the morning? No.
Doctor concluded the severe stomach pain is nothing but due to swelling in the digestive intestine and gave a 6 day medical schedule.
Based on this the doctor suggested three medicines, 1 tablet in the morning 1 tablet in the evening.
1) Drofem Tablet for controlling the stomach pain.
2) Oflex OZ.
3) Ompraz - To control the nausea caused by Oflex OZ.
The doctor also asked to eat only rice and drink warm water for next two days and if the pain continues, we are advised to do sonography.
I am not sure if the above tablets are available in all the countries and also I would advise you people to communicate with your doctor before taking up any medicines.
I will be making a detail post about the Causes of Stomach Pain in coming days, so watch around.

Cracking Sound From Jaw
Have you ever heard sound of your jaw cracking when you open your mouth. It started to happen with me 1 year back and I kept ignoring it till today. It was not like my jaw kept cracking every now and then. But there were times like a week or two for couple of times when I tried to open my mouth and the jaw cracked.Recently I was doing research for a post on Pain in the ear due to swelling and came across the reason for cracking sound, which I would like to publish in this post. It is nothing major, so no need to worry about the cracking sound. It is called as the TMJ Syndrome ( Temporomandibular Syndrome) termed as a disorder which affects the joint of jaws. You can treat it with a moist heat or cold massage around the jaw. If the sound keeps on bugging you and is painful at time, it would be appropriate decision to see your doctor right away.
Personally I have done nothing for my two time suffering of the jaw cracking but next time it happens I would definitely be seeing a doctor.

I was surprised as I never touched my nose for any nail contact with the nose . So what is food poisoning. It is the abnormal condition of the stomach caused by eating some culprit food. Here I would like to dedicate this post as symptoms food poisoning to the same purpose.

1) Nausea
2) Vomiting
3) Cramping
4) Diarrhoea with or without blood
5) Dizziness or weakness

1) Uncooked meat (chickens, burgers, sushi, steaks, pork, etc).
2) Mayonised salad's kept at room temperature.
3) Food like egg, tuna, chicken salad, pasta and potato which is stored at room temperature.
4) Animal contact and failing to wash your hands before eating.

Avoid Dry Skin
Skin! the exterior by which a man/woman is known. The complexion that matters. Everyone likes to have a wonderful skin. Don't you stare at people with soft, moist skin. Ah! Who won't like that!
So why does the skin dries out in winter? The answers are low humidity, low temperature and strong wind blowing interfere with the lipid layer which protects our skin from being dry. To take it further, our skin is made of layers. The outermost layer is called stratum corneum and is made up of dead skin cells and natural oils that are produced from living skin cells. Stratum Corneum has two important functions. First is, it retains water from being evaporated to retain the moisture for the skin and secondly, it prevents germs from entering the skin. To summarize the natural oils (lipids) and dead cells contains water which is responsible for keeping the skin moist. So when these lipids reduce in number the skin becomes dry.
Tips to get rid of dry skin.
1) Use warm water instead of hot while bathing to avoid hot water pulling away the moisture from the skin.
2) Apply moisturizer after shower and hand washing when the skin is damp for best effects.
3) Exfoliate your skin once or twice a week for the moisturizer to be effective. Exfoliate face with facial scrub, while body with body scrub, reason being the difference in skin types.
4) Avoid soaps that turn your skin dry like the foamy ones and those which has cleanser like lye. Instead consider using a creamy moisturizer cleanser made up of glycerin and petrolatum.
5) Apply moisturizer and cover your hands and legs with gloves and socks respectively.
6) Stay hydrated in a limited way, as drinking a lot of water in any won't hydrate your skin from inside out.
7) Take care of your lips. Please don't move your tongues around them. It will never help them preserve the moisture. Instead they will loose it.
8) Extra Care for Face in winter is a must. Moving out of house in wind without a scarf and moisturizer on is a strict NO.
Other tips:
People with sensitive skin should not use tap water? Reason is harsh chemicals which will cause your skin to dry up.
Suggestions: Instead use Pond's like cold cream, which does not need rinsing. Special water containing selenium and chamomile.

1) Turmeric Powder : Using Turmeric as home remedy for cold is an ancient way followed, where 30 ml of milk, mixed with half spoon turmeric powder and the mixture is boiled. Take this once or twice a day and you are done with cold. When you are irritated with the runny nose one can inhale the smoke of the burning turmeric powder to increase the flow from nose for quick relief.
2) Lemon : Lemon juice rich is vitamin C is considered as most important home remedy for cold. It increases the resistance power of the body and reduced the time of illness. One can take a combination of lemon juice, warm water and a teaspoon of honey to get rid of cold.
3) Garlic : Garlic in soup form reduces the severity of cold. Garlic's antiseptic and cleansing respiratory passage properties makes it another important home remedy for cold. Take 3 or 4 pieces of garlic and boil it in water.
4) Ginger : One can always prepare a ginger tea and take it twice daily. Preparation is like normal tea. The only thing one has to do is add ginger to the tea.
5) Bitter Gourd Roots : The roots of bitter gourd are used in folk medicine to cure a cold. The contains should be teaspoon of root paste and same quantity of honey. Take it once a day.

4) Ginger : One can always prepare a ginger tea and take it twice daily. Preparation is like normal tea. The only thing one has to do is add ginger to the tea.
5) Bitter Gourd Roots : The roots of bitter gourd are used in folk medicine to cure a cold. The contains should be teaspoon of root paste and same quantity of honey. Take it once a day.

How To Avoid FLU
How to avoid Flu? Flu, the most common way in which one gets sick. How can we avoid it? Here follows the tips to avoid flu.
a) Eat more vegetables : Body's immune system is the fighting mechanism agains the infections. So one should eat dark green, yellow, red vegetables and fruits to provide body with required vitamins, antioxidants and beta carotine.
b) Regular Exercise : Jogging or walking helps you boost your immune system.
c) Get required sleep : A sleep of 7 - 8 hours for adults, 9 hours for teens and more than 10 to 12 hours for kids is recommended.
d) Minimize Stress : Stress is one of the reason where your immune system works to the lowest of your ability. Try not to be stressed, learn to relax.

Hair Loss Related To Anaemia
There are a lot of medical problems that are signaled by hair loss, and anaemia can be one of the culprit if a person is loosing hair at an alarming rate. However this post will concentrate on hair loss related to anaemia.
What is Anaemia? A Condition caused by less number of RBC's (Red Blood Cells) or insufficient haemoglobin which eventually results in less oxygen and energy in body.
Type of Anaemia related to hair loss
1) Iron Deficiency Anaemia causes rapid hair loss, change of hair colour to a lighter shade and overall dryness of hair. Hair loss is triggered by both less and well as excess quantity of irons.
Causes of Iron Deficiency: Vitamin C deficiency, consuming caffeine rich coffee and tea, alcohol abuse.
Iron Sources: Rice , bread, broccoli and beans
2) Copper Deficiency Anaemia: Copper is important in formation of melanin pigment which is important in giving the hair, its colour. Thus it affects the hair colour when it is insufficient.
Copper Sources: Mushrooms, grains, nuts , beans.
3) Pernicious Anaemia (B12 deficieny) causes rapid hair loss, hair colour shade changes, dryness of hair with diffuse hair loss.
B12 Sources: Dairy products, yeast extracts.
