How to Stay Healthy This Winter | Avoid Cough & Flu

As winter approaches, we are exposed to higher levels of infective agents. The sudden change in climate weakens our immune system and usually we get "Flu" or "Cough". Even if we are okay, our immune system gets affected many a times by  our "colleagues" , "Friends or family" or many a times from a "stranger from the Bus Station".
There are some other factors also which are responsible to make you sick like Mental Stress, Less Sleep (if you are still wondering how sleep is associated with good health, Read Importance of Sound Sleep), the surroundings, and "running on empty" lifestyles, and a meager diet. We must be careful and take precautions before getting too late. Here's some Tips to Stay Healthy in This Winter by boosting up your immune system.

1) Sleep Well : Nice Sound Sleep is the Key

Having a sound sleep is an essential element of a healthy life. Lack of a single night sleep, dramatically
weakens your immune system by damaging it badly. Some people watch TV late night or "Party Late Night "which hamper their health"
So switch off your TV , go to your bed & take nice sound sleep.

2) Eat and Drink Carefully

It is scientifically proved that your diet plays the most prominent role in making your health and keeps you free from germs. Most of saturated animal fats like butter, cream, eggnog, etc reduce our immunity to fight against the sickness. Do add Garlic, onions, and other vegetables in your food as they have effective antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Green tea is loaded with polyphenols, powerful antioxidant compounds. The best way to stay healthy is drinking more and more water, at least eight to twelve glasses a day.

3) Keep your hands clean:

After every time when you are in contact with someone, especially a physical contact, you must wash your hands with soap or Antibacterial soap (if possible).
Keep them hygienic & clean, as whatever you eat, you eat with your hands which further goes into your body.

4) Drink milk

Milk is a great source of protein and vitamins A and B1 also contained calcium, which helps keep our bones strong. If you are not comfortable with full fat milk, try to have semi-skimmed or skimmed milk.

5) Intake fruit and vegetables

Winter vegetables like parsnips, carrots, swede and turnips can be roasted, crushed or made into soup for a healthy winter meal. Also add more fruit in your diet and stay away from diseases. Add some, minerals, vitamins and carbohydrates and calcium also and make your family a healthy family.
